When Mego celebrated a grand opening, they invited only A listers to the event, as evidenced by characters from the biggest lines of 1975, namely Wizard of Oz, World's Greatest Superheroes and Planet of the Apes. Note the wonderful assortment of product behind them. Click on the photo for a better view.
Fantastic Update courtesy of Jens Knappman today who was kind enough to scan this rare German leaflet for the Lion Rock Gestern Wars series but also translated the whole thing for us as well. It's a really neat look at foreign marketing many of us haven't seen before:
Neat addition to the Lionrock World War 2 Gallery today, it's the 1976 Mego Johnny Action Catalog featuring the military that Mego marketed around the world under many different names.
A President's day sale after Mego's demise shows clearance pricing on everything, including the World's Greatest Superheroes! Sure, the ad shows Batman but I bet it was mostly Hulks.....A rather epic addition today to our Planet of the Apes Galleries, the first (but hopefully not last) known shot of the 1974 Mego Toyfair showroom featuring the Planet of the Apes action figures and Doctor Cornelius himself (obviously one of the store appearance suits) click on the image for a larger view.

Courtesy of World's Greatest Toys author Benjamin Holcomb is the Lex Luthor prototype, our first of the new figures from this Mattel/EMCE collaberation.
With all due respect to fans of Mr. Mxyzptlk, this figure is helping to erase one of the original WGSH lines biggest errors, the addition of Superman's true arch enemy, the leader of the Legion of Doom himself, Lex Luthor.
Again, we have a look that 70s kids will immediately identify as being from Challenge of the Superfriends, Bravo EMCE and Mattel!
Eventhough his look has been altered, there is something very familiar about Supes, you can almost hear Danny Dark's voice coming out of this figure, Bravo EMCE and Mattel!
