Mego Museum Merges with Megoheadtoys.com

It's a great Mego day as we've merged with none other than Mego Guru John Bonavita.

John's wonderfully cool site megoheadtoys will now be incorporated into the museum as the Bonavita Mego Archive. Many of the fabulous photos will be scattered about the museum but John's core website will always remain for all to see.

We at the Museum feel honoured that John chose us for this task as he has been a great friend to many of us and a person who always shares what he knows.

3rd Annual MegoMuseum.com Server Space and Bandwidth Fund Raffle

The 3rd Annual MegoMuseum.com Server Space and Bandwidth Fund Raffle will take place on Friday, September 2nd, 2005, at 8:00 p.m. in the Mego Museum chat room.

Here’s the story – we use a lot of space and bandwidth, and someone has to pay for said space and bandwidth. That somebody is me, (Joe) and the yearly raffle (along with the Amazon link at the top of the message board page and other ads) is my attempt to recoup some of that cost. The raffle goes to fund the server and bandwidth fees incurred by the Museum, which are always on the rise because we folks are a chatty bunch who enjoy posting pages and pages of photos!

Donations are now being solicited from the Mego community at large. You can donate something Mego or Mego related (or just toy related, or fantasy/science fiction related, or… well, you get the drift) worth $10 or more. The donations will be corralled and counted by our very own Rob Chatlin, who will then split them into a grand prize, first prize, second prize, and third prize.

For details on how to donate prizes, please contact Rob at rchatlin@earthlink.net or PM him at rchatlin. All prizes should have reached Rob by August 20th, 2005.

Just like last year, tickets are $10.00 each, and you can buy as many tickets as you want. The more tickets you buy, the better your chance at winning something!

You can purchase tickets through Paypal, check, or money order. My Paypal address is paypal@megomuseum.com, or you can click the banner at the bottom of the Mego Talk page. You can also buy tickets through megostore.com. If you want to send a check or money order, please PM me at jderouen or e-mail me at joe@megostore.com for my mailing address.

Tickets will be on sale through August 31st, 2005. Good luck, and thank you for your support!

New User Gallery Launched!

The Mego Community (http://www.megostore.com/mc) will soon go away. The gallery is broken and I can't fix it. Why is it broken? Because there are nearly 10,000 images in it! It started naming files with intergers.

It's time to start over. I'll leave the MC up as long as it takes to let people transfer whatever they want to transfer, but eventually I'll kill it.

It's being replaced with this:

http://megomuseum.com/gallery/

You can still use it for whatever you want. It's better, faster, stronger, AND it makes thumbnails. It'll take some getting used to, but please visit, create an account, and use to your heart's content.

Comments? e-mail me at joe@sparkynet.com
