Zica at New York City Comic Con

For those who couldn't make New York Comic Con this past weekend, Mego Museum member Chuck AKA "Megocrazy" was gracious enough to take some great pictures of the Buck Rogers display giving a detailed look at this highly aniticipated series of figures. Also from Comic Con comes the news that Zica's next projects include Adam West (yes, that Adam West) and Logan's Run based on the Blue Water comic series. More photos after the jump.

Tiger Man by ZICA

An early treat prior to New York Comic Con as ZICA (www.zicatoys.com) has unveiled one of their highly anticipated figures from the "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" line.  Draconian Bad Guy "Tiger Man" is one of the more memorable characters from the series and as you can see he's been done justice here.

The 1980 Mego show room is all about Sci Fi

This rare photo of the 1980 Mego showroom claims the model is wearing "Star Trek regalia" (not sure what uniform that is) but more importantly it gives a glimpse of what Mego had to offer at Toy Fair 1980.

This photo not only shows Black Hole toys that were never released to market but also gives us a first look of what the box for remote controlled V.I.N.C.ent would have looked like.

We've shown it before but it's worth repeating, this six foot banner was prominently displayed in the Mego booth at 1980 Toy Fair.

8" Buck Rogers Line Announced

ZICA Toys is excited to announce its first official foray into the world of licensed collectibles with an all new, highly articulated 1/9th scale line of action figures based on the fantastic television movie and series, Buck Rogers In The 25th Century. This indelible incarnation of the original hero of tomorrow debuted in 1979, starring Gil Gerard as William “Buck” Rogers. Buck was the last astronaut to pilot a deep space probe. During a freak mishap he was hurdled 500 years into the future. When he awoke he found himself in a strange new place surrounded by gorgeous disco-dancing spandex-clad aliens. Mego of the Day: 12" Killer Kane

Mego of the Day is 12" Killer Kane from the Mego Buck Rogers line. One of the nicer and often unfairly maligned figure sets from Mego. Kane here is a wonderful depiction of actor Henry Silva, sadly Kane was played by Michael Ansara in the subsequent television series which probably didn't help sales much.

Today's Mego of the Day is none other than Draconian Henchman/Buck Rogers punching bag, Tiger Man!

Tiger Man despite his lack of lines, made for one of the more memorable characters in the movie and resulting series....

Mego Walking Twiki Prototype

This sales sample of the walking Twiki Figure, meant to go along with the 12" Buck Rogers figure is a new addition to the Museum galleries. The figure is completely solid and does not have any moving parts, the label appears to be hand colored.

Mego Designer Tory Mucaro happily elaborated on the process used to create this figure, the figure is made of Carbolon casting material which was used at Mego. He adds "I would guess the original pattern was sculpted on the outside, and we poured RTV molds and cast duplicates to be used as sales samples"

This item was purchased from a former Mego sales rep, making it a sales sample.
